However, a company (especially a Ltd or LLC) provides personal liability protection from professional claims, and is typically required by clients for professional indemnity insurance purposes. Many institutional clients also prefer contracting with a company entity rather than an individual.
In the UK, architects must be registered with the ARB (Architects Registration Board) to use the title 'architect.' RIBA membership is voluntary but professionally beneficial. If you practice through a company, the individual architect must still maintain their personal ARB registration. In the US, the AIA provides professional membership; individual state licensure is also required. We assist with company formation; professional body registration is handled separately.

US architects typically prefer an LLC or PLLC.
