Frequently asked questions

Is there an official Indonesia digital nomad visa?

Yes, the E33-G 'Second Home Visa' and the B211A social/cultural visa are the main routes used by nomads. A dedicated digital nomad visa (ITAS) is also in development.

Do I pay Indonesian income tax?

If your income comes entirely from outside Indonesia, it is not subject to Indonesian income tax under current rules, making Indonesia one of Southeast Asia's most attractive nomad bases.

How long can I stay?

The Second Home Visa is 5 years. The B211A is 60 days, extendable to 180 days. KITAS permits go up to 2 years with annual renewal.

Is Bali the only option?

No. Jakarta, Lombok, Yogyakarta, and the Gilis are popular. Bali (Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud) has the most developed nomad infrastructure.
