Frequently asked questions
UK Ltd or US LLC - which is better for my agency?
If most of your clients are in the US or you need Stripe US, a Delaware or Wyoming LLC is better - it unlocks US payment processors without friction. If your clients are in the EU, UK, or globally distributed and you want a professional registered address, a UK Ltd offers more credibility for European buyers. Many agencies form both as they grow.
Can I invoice in GBP, EUR, and USD from the same company?
Yes. Both UK Ltd and US LLC can hold multi-currency bank accounts (e.g. via Wise Business or Payoneer) and invoice in multiple currencies. The company books everything in its functional currency; your accountant handles FX treatment.
Do I need to register for VAT as a UK Ltd?
VAT registration is mandatory above the UK VAT threshold (currently £90,000 in the UK). If your clients are outside the UK, B2B services may be outside the scope of UK VAT under the 'place of supply' rules. Consult a UK VAT specialist - we do not provide tax advice.
Can my agency employ contractors through a US LLC?
Yes. A US LLC can pay contractors worldwide. Each US-based contractor earning $600+ in a tax year requires a Form 1099. International contractors typically provide a W-8BEN. We do not provide tax advice; consult a US accountant for payroll and contractor structuring.
