Frequently asked questions

Do I need an EU entity or will a UK Ltd work for European clients?

Post-Brexit, a UK Ltd is no longer an EU entity, but it is still widely accepted by European clients as a legitimate counterparty. For EU public sector contracts, EU grants, or data processing agreements requiring an EU GDPR controller, you will need an EU-registered entity (Ireland, Estonia, Netherlands, etc.). For most B2B SaaS and services sales, a UK Ltd continues to work well across Europe.

Which European jurisdiction has the lowest corporate tax?

Ireland has the lowest headline corporate tax rate at 12.5% on trading income. Hungary has a 9% rate but is less commonly used for international structures. Estonia has a unique system where corporate tax is only levied when profits are distributed - retained profits are not taxed, making it effective for reinvesting businesses. Netherlands has a 19%/25.8% tiered rate but offers the participation exemption for holding structures.

Do I need to be physically present in Europe to run a European company?

For UK Ltd and most EU companies, you do not need to be physically present to manage the company. Estonia OÜ is specifically designed for remote management. Ireland and Netherlands require some local presence for substance/tax residency purposes. We advise on the specific requirements for your chosen jurisdiction.
