Morocco does not currently have a standalone digital nomad visa. Most nationalities (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia) get 90 days on entry as tourists. Staying longer requires a residency permit (carte de sejour), which can be obtained by showing proof of income and accommodation. Morocco is expected to announce a formal digital nomad visa in 2025.
Marrakech has a growing nomad scene centred on the Gueliz and Hivernage districts, which have reliable fibre internet and coworking spaces. The medina is an incredible cultural experience but internet can be less reliable in traditional riads. Nomads typically base themselves in Gueliz for work and explore the medina for leisure.
Morocco's currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD), which is not freely convertible outside Morocco. Most nomads use international digital banks (Wise, Revolut) for day-to-day expenses and withdraw MAD from ATMs. We assist with setting up international banking that works well in Morocco.
