Frequently asked questions

When is the Cayman annual licence due?

Cayman exempt companies must renew by 31 January each year. Late renewals incur a penalty surcharge of 33.3% of the annual fee for the first 3 months, rising further for extended delays.

What are Cayman economic substance requirements?

Under the Economic Substance Act, Cayman entities conducting certain relevant activities (banking, insurance, fund management, finance & leasing, HQ business, shipping, intellectual property, holding) must demonstrate adequate economic substance in Cayman and file an annual ES notification.

What is CIMA?

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) regulates financial services entities. Funds, banks, insurance companies, and investment managers licensed in Cayman must file regular reports and maintain CIMA compliance.

Do I need a local registered agent?

Yes. All Cayman companies must maintain a registered office through a licensed registered agent. We can refer you to approved Cayman agents.
