Frequently asked questions
What is the Vietnam 90-day e-visa?
Vietnam's e-visa allows most nationalities to stay in Vietnam for up to 90 days for a single entry or multiple entries. It is applied for online and processed within 3 business days. The e-visa can be used for both tourism and business activities. Most digital nomads use this as their primary Vietnam stay option.
Can I extend my stay beyond 90 days in Vietnam?
Vietnam does not currently offer simple tourist visa extensions beyond 90 days. Options for longer stays include a business visa (DL category) sponsored by a local company, or visa runs to neighbouring countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos) before re-entering. Vietnam's dedicated digital nomad visa is expected in 2025.
Is Vietnam good value for digital nomads?
Yes. Vietnam is one of the most affordable nomad destinations in South-East Asia. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi offer excellent street food, comfortable apartments, and reliable coworking spaces at costs well below Bangkok, Bali, or Singapore. Monthly living costs for a comfortable lifestyle range from $800 to $1,600 USD.
