The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) launched in 2024 is currently the best option for most nomads. It allows 5-year multiple-entry stays of up to 180 days each. For nomads earning over $80,000 USD per year from foreign sources, the LTR (Long-Term Resident) Visa offers a 10-year renewable permit with tax benefits. We assess which category suits you best.
Thailand taxes individuals who are tax-resident (spend 180+ days in Thailand in a tax year) on income remitted to Thailand in the same tax year. The DTV visa does not itself exempt holders from Thai tax residency. Tax rules changed in 2024. We do not provide tax advice; consult a Thai tax advisor before establishing Thai residency.
